FRESNO, Calif. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team secured a berth in the Semifinals of the Mountain West Championships with a 4-1 victory over No. 5 Fresno State on Thursday.

The No. 4 seed Wolf Pack was battling the No. 5 Bulldogs on their home courts, as the Mountain West Championships are being held in Fresno, Calif. Nevada went 2-for-3 in doubles play to take an early 1-0 lead, and quickly won 3-of-4 singles matches in securing the win. This was the second victory of the season over Fresno State for Nevada, as the Pack defeated the Bulldogs on April 18 in Reno.

"Fresno State made it tough for us, it's never easy," said Erik Burton, Nevada men's tennis head coach. "Our entire line up battled to the end, and now we want to carry our momentum into Saturday against Boise State. I feel we're on equal footing as the Broncos, and we will bring our fight to that match as well."

Nevada started the day by dropping the first doubles match on court two, but came back with a win of its own. From court one, the All-Conference Doubles team and No. 63 Victor Ouvrard and Robert Allan topped Eric Komati and John Darmstaedter in an extended set, 8-7(8-6). With the crucial point on the line, Andrew Poustie and Fernando Sunago stopped Sam MacNeil and Alexandros Georgios on court three, 8-6.

Court six was where Nevada grabbed its first singles victory, as Sunago dispatched Georgios in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, for a 2-0 Nevada lead. Fresno State notched a point on court five to make the match 2-1, but Andrew Poustie brought Nevada's lead to 3-1 after ousted Komati on court four, 6-1, 7-5. The final match of the day saw All-Conference Singles selection Moez Chargui put away MacNeil on court two, 7-5, 6-3, for to seal Nevada's Quarterfinal victory.
