Nevada Rolls for First Conference Victory

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team bounced conference foe Air Force on Sunday by a score of 5-2 for its first conference victory of the season.
The Wolf Pack (9-10, 1-3 MW) jumped off to a hot start against the Falcons (11-11, 0-5 MW) by winning two of three doubles matches to secure an early point, and finished the day strong with four singles victories to secure the win. The victory was the first for the Pack in Mountain West play, and stopped a six-match skid. For assistant coach Kristian Kuharszky, he was happy to see the team come out on top.
"It was great to see them win a tough match," he said. "We started well in doubles, and we carried that momentum into singles. It was pretty tight there toward the end, Air Force is a strong and competitive team. We really had to battle at the end be victorious, and I'm glad to see the guys did."
The first singles victory came from co-captain Victor Ouvrard, as he rolled past Grant Taylor in straight sets from position three 6-2, 6-4. Andrew Poustie picked up his second win of the weekend in position five, powering past Andy Jackson 6-1, 6-4. Quentin Mege was victorious in straight sets in position two, pushing past Steven Young 6-4, 6-3. The final singles victory came from Robert Allan, as he pulled out the three set thriller from position six by Squeezing past Andrew Parks 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
In doubles, Poustie and partner Fernando Sunago snatched a victory against Alex Grubbs and Jack McCullers 8-6 in position two. The other victory came from position three, where Allan Ryan Andrada got past Jackson and Ali Rizvi, also by a score of 8-6.
The Wolf Pack is in action again on Friday when it makes the trek to Boise, Idaho to face Boise State beginning at 1 p.m.
