Nevada Wins on Senior Day
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team defeated Sonoma State 6-1 Saturday, on senior day at Caughlin Club.
In their final matches, seniors Kristian Kuharszky and Kyle Walker combined to go 2-2 and help Nevada to its fifth dual match win of 2011.
"Those guys played really well and everybody played really hard for them," head coach Sylvain Malroux said.
Kuharszky won at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles to sweep his matches in his last home tilt. Walker competed hard at No. 6 singles, falling 6-3, 6-4 to Bryce Keefer.
As a team, Nevada won seven of the nine matches contested.
"We are excited about the way the men are playing heading into their WAC matches," Malroux said.
Nevada finishes its regular-season schedule with five matches within the conference. Each of the teams remaining on Nevada's schedule after Sonoma State were ranked to begin the 2011 season, including Fresno State, who cracked the top 30 and is currently ranked No. 44 nationally.
