RENO, Nev. -- The University of Nevada men's tennis team was victorious in both of its matches this weekend after dropping the UMBC Retrievers on Sunday by a score of 6-1.

The Wolf Pack won its fifth straight match and improved its record to 10-2 (0-1 MW) after its match with the Retrievers (9-5). This is the second straight weekend that Nevada has swept a two-match home stand, as the Pack did so last weekend with victories over Grand Canyon and Montana, and defeated Seattle University on Friday. Nevada got on a roll early against UMBC by sweeping doubles play (3-for-3) and cruised through singles play, winning 5-of-6 matches. Between Friday and Sunday, the Wolf Pack was a combined 17-for-18 in both singles and doubles play.

"Overall, it was a good outing this week," said Erik Burton, Nevada head coach. "We can definitely improve our intensity and ability to finish. Doubles will continue to improve for some tough matches coming up. We get some time off for these guys and then we're back to work this Thursday."

Doubles play began when Quentin Mege and Moez Chargui took home the first win of the day for Nevada, as they rolled past Daniel Gray and Alex Drean, 8-2. Fernando Sunago and Andrew Poustie followed with an 8-5 win over Eliott Loubatie and Kamal Patel to give Nevada a 1-0 lead. After a tiebreaker, the No. 32 national doubles team Victor Ouvrard and Robert Allan outlasted Justin Carter and Melker Svard, 8-7(11-9).

Ouvrard opened the singles scoring, as the No.7 ITA Mountain Region athlete ousted Carter in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Ryan Andrada made the Nevada lead 3-0 when he defeated Loubatie, 6-0, 6-1. Allan got the match-deciding point for Nevada after he knocked off Patel, 6-4, 6-2. It was a 4-0 Nevada lead after Chargui dropped Svard, 6-2, 6-4. Montana grabbed a victory on court five before Quentin Mege grabbed the final victory of the day, as he overcame Drean 7-6(7-1), 7-6(7-5).

The Wolf Pack will be in action again on Sunday, March 23 when it faces Eastern Washington on the courts of Caughlin Athletic Club at 9 am.
