SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Nevada men's tennis team earned its second victory of the road trip, as it defeated the University of San Antonio Roadrunners by a score of 4-3.
The victory over the Roadrunners (3-2) by the Wolf Pack (5-3) was their second straight victory in as many days. In total, the Pack collected five victories on Friday, four coming in singles play. Freshman Robert Allan's undefeated streak to start his collegiate singles career has climbed to 8, as he picked up a victory over Joel Rubio in three sets 5-7, 6-0, 6-1. Other newcomer Andrew Poustie picked up a singles victory on the day as he squeezed past David Kelleher 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Ryan Andrada rolled to a victory in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 over Kolby Kilgo. The final match clinching point came from junior co-captain Victor Ouvrard, as he held on for the nailbiter over Martin Ayala 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (5-7), 6-4.
"Again the team was in a tough environment, and again the team stood tall against a quality opponent in UTSA," head coach Erik Burton said. "We didn't perform as well in doubles today, but singles came through against a strong team."
In doubles play, the lone Pack victory came from the team of Poustie and Andrada, as they cruised past the team of Rubio and Kelleher 8-3.
The Wolf Pack battles the Lamar Cardinals tomorrow at 2:30 P.M. PST.
