Becher Leads Team at New Mexico State
Las Cruces, N.M. – Led by senior Jared Becher, the University of Nevada's men's golf is in fourth place after two at the 2009 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. The 17- team tournament is held Oct. 26-27 at the par 72, 7074-yard NMSU Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
UNLV is in first after two rounds at 17-under 551 (272-279), Washington State follows by one stroke in second place at 16-under 552 (277-275). Kansas State is in third at 10-under 558 (283-275). The Wolf Pack sits in fourth at six-under 282 (281-281) and New Mexico State is in fifth at four-under 564 (285-279).
Becher leads the Wolf Pack as he stands in a three-way tie for second place with a two round total of seven under 135. Becher shot a 68 in round one and 67 in round two, has now been under par 10 out of 11 rounds this season. Senior Travis Esway (73-70=143) follows in a tie for 33rd. Senior Ryan Hallisey (68-76=144) and junior Scott Smith (76-68=144) shot 144 to tie for 42nd, respectively, Smith shot a 68 in round two to match his season best. Senior Taylor Coffman (72-79=151) rounds out the Wolf Pack tied for 83rd.
UNLV’s Derek Ernst leads the individuals after round one at eight-under 134 (64-70).
