Men's Golf in Fourth After Round One at New Mexico State
Las Cruces, N.M. - Led by seniors Jared Becher and Ryan Hallisey, the University of Nevada's men's golf is in fourth place after round one at the 2009 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. The 17- team tournament is held Oct. 26-27 at the par 72, 7074-yard NMSU Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
The Wolf Pack sits in fourth at three under 282, nine strokes behind first held by UNLV (272). Washington State is in second at seven-under 277 followed by Nebraska in third at four-under 280. Idaho, North Texas and Rhode Island are tied for fifth at two-under 282.
Becher and Hallisey lead the Wolf Pack after round one. Both are tied for sixth shooting four-under 68. Seniors Taylor Coffman (72) and Travis Esway (73) follow in ties for 38th and 51st, respectively. Junior Scott Smith rounds out the Wolf Pack in a tie for 81st after shooting four-over 76 in Monday's round.
UNLV's Derek Ernst leads the individuals after round one at seven-under 64.
