Nevada Men's Golf Team to Play In Alister Mackenzie Invitational

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada men’s golf team will play its third tournament of the 2012-2013 season this week, traveling to the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Cal on Monday.

Nevada will be one of the 16 teams participating in a 54-hole tournament to be played on the par 71, 6,718 yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. The teams will play 36 holes in a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15. The final 18-hole round will be played on Tuesday. The four low individual scores will determine the team’s scores for each round.

Nevada will play against Cal, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, Michigan, Oregon, Oregon State, San Francisco, San Jose State, UC Davis, Wichita State, along with fellow Mountain West Conference members Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, and San Diego State.

“This is one of the better fields we will go up against this season,’ said head coach Jacob Wilner. “We are excited for the opportunity.”

Juniors Ryan Mulvany, and Brian Knoll will be the upperclassman in the group of five players traveling to the tournament. Sophomores Gustavo Chuang, Taylor Knoll, and Zak Griffiths will be other members of the squad.
