Wolf Pack Golf Teams in 4th and 5th at Giustina Memorial Tournament
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The University of Nevada's men's and women’s golf teams are in fifth and fourth place after the first two rounds of the Giustina Memorial Classic, being held Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 28-29 at the par 72 Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
Nevada’s men’s team shot a five-under 283 in the first round and one-over 288 in the second, both on Monday, to stand in 4th place at eight-under 572. On the women’s side, the Wolf Pack is fifth at 48-over 624 (303-321).
Individually, senior Jared Becher leads the Wolf Pack men’s team in second place at seven-under 137. Becher shot a six-under 66 in round one and a one-under 71 in round two. Following Becher is junior Scott Smith at five-under 139 (71-68) in a tie for sixth. Senior Ryan Hallisey is tied for 22nd at two-over 74 (74-72). Senior Travis Esway is tied for 30th at six-over 150 (72-78). Senior Taylor Coffman rounds out the men’s team in 50th at 15-over 159 (76-83).
Sophomore Jamie Yam and newcomer sophomore Eugenia Guerra lead the Wolf Pack women’s team after the first two rounds. Yam is in a tie for 12th at 11-over 155. Yam shot one-under par-72 in round one and ten-over 82 in round two. Guerra is in a tie for 14th at 12-over 156 (77-79). Junior Lauren Hernandez follows in a tie for 18th at 13-over 157 (76-81). Freshman Louise Yi is tied for 33rd at 18-over 162 (77-85). Rounding up the women’s team lineup in a tie for 36th is junior Ana Patricia de la Maza at 19-over 163 (84-79).
Washington State’s Trent Sanders (68-68=136) and Oregon’s Kendra Little (73-69=142) are leading the individual fields for the men and women, respectively.
