RENO, Nev. - Coming off a pair of strong season-opening performances, the Nevada men's golf team looks to keep it rolling this week at the Mark Simpson/Colorado Invitational that begins Monday and concludes Tuesday.
The 14-team tournament will be played at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18-hole round on Tuesday. Nevada will send seniors Ryan Mulvany, Brian Knoll, Josh Baskins, junior Nicholas Smits and freshman Rhyne Jones to the tournament.
Nevada finished fifth at the Air Force tournament in Colorado Springs with Knoll tying for fourth place in the first tournament of the year and then Knoll notched another top-10 and Nevada was third last week at the Colorado State tournament.
"Colorado National is a big, long, and open golf course stretching out at 7,700 yards," Nevada coach Jacob Wilner said. "The field is the best we have seen this fall. The guys are eager to compete."
