RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada men’s golf team will hold an open tryout later this month, head coach Jacob Wilner announced today.
The three-day event will be held the mornings of Aug. 27-29 at a local, to-be-determined course and may have a cut after each round. In order to be eligible for the tryout, players must be a current University of Nevada student, pass a university sports medicine physical and complete an NCAA eligibility form prior to the event.
Players must submit a résumé to Wilner detailing high school, amateur or junior college tournament results. The size of the field for the tryout will be limited to top nine applicants due to course availability and selections will based on strength of résumé. Preferred qualifications include a high school or competitive stroke average of 76 or better with at least eight competitive rounds within the last 12 months. All individuals must submit their information by August 10.
The open tryout is not a tournament format and a spot on the Wolf Pack golf team is not guaranteed. The event is meant as an opportunity for local players to showcase their ability for possible consideration as a walk-on to the program.
For more information or to submit a résumé, contact Wilner at email@example.com or call (775) 682-6938.
