RENO, Nev. – The men’s golf team is heading to Fresno, Calif. to play in the Fresno Lexus Classic beginning Monday.
Nevada will be one of 14 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament at the 6,776 yard, par-71 San Joaquin Country Club.
The team will be made out of seniors Ryan Mulvany, Brian Knoll, and Josh Baskins , junior Nicholas Smits, sophomore Kit Carson, and freshman Rhyne Jones. This is a six count four event, where six players make up a team, but only the four best scores count toward the team score.
“With six players competing we are hoping to see production out of the entire lineup,” said head coach Jacob Wilner.
The field of teams includes BYU, Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Northridge, Fresno State, Grand Canyon University, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Texas El Paso, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara.
The tournament will start with two 18-hole rounds on Monday, with the final round coming Tuesday.
