RENO, Nev. - The men's golf team is heading to Elk Grove, Calif. to play in the Sacramento State Invitational beginning Monday.
Nevada will be one of 14 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament at the 7,036 yard, par-72 Valley Hi Country Club
The team will be made out of seniors Ryan Mulvany and Brian Knoll, junior Nicholas Smits, sophomore Kit Carson, and freshman Rhyne Jones. Senior Josh Baskins, junior Gustavo Chuang, and freshman Zach Berhost will be competing individually.
Last week Jones registered his first collegiate top-five finish at the John Burns Invitational. He was also awarded the Mountain West Golfer of the Week for his performance.
"This is a big week for us," said head coach Jacob Wilner. "We have five starters and three players competing as individuals. This is a field and course that should suit us well. I'm confident this tournament will bring the positive momentum we need for the challenging spring schedule that lies ahead of us."
The field of teams includes Boise State, University of British Columbia, Chico State, CSU Bakersfield, Loyola Marymount, Northern Colorado, Pacific, Sacramento State, Southern Utah, Nebraska-Omaha and Weber State
The tournament will start with two 18-hole rounds on Monday, with the final round coming Tuesday.
