LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Nicholas Smits recorded his third straight top-20 finish as he tied for 16th at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Smits closed with an even-par 71 - his best round of the tournament - to move into the top 20 and lead Nevada to a 10th-place finish overall.

Freshman Rhyne Jones tied for 36th and senior Brian Knoll tied for 49th while Ryan Mulvany and Josh Baskings tied for 56th at the event.

The host Aggies won the team title.

Nevada returns to action next week when it heads to the Pacific Fall Invitational. Last year, Nevada put forth the top two rounds in program history at the event.
