RENO, Nev. – The Nevada men’s golf team shot 7 over par in the second round on Monday to move into sixth place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State.
Nevada opened with a 298 in the first round Monday morning but shaved seven strokes off that to move up four places, into a tie with UT-Arlington. The final 18 holes is scheduled for Tuesday.
Freshman Rhyne Jones paced the Wolf Pack in both rounds Monday, opening with an even-par 71 and then shooting a 72 in the second round. He’s tied for 10th heading into the final round. Nicholas Smits (T25th) and Ryan Mulvany (T32nd) also shot 72 in the second round. Josh Baskins (T51st) and Brian Knoll (T59th) had 75s Monday afternoon.
The host Aggies lead the team race with a 572 after two rounds, 17 strokes ahead of the Pack.
