TUCSON, Ariz. – The men’s golf team is ninth after the first round of the Mountain West Championship.

Nevada shot a 12-over 296 in the first round and is three shots behind Boise State.

Senior Brian Knoll and freshman Rhyne Jones are both tied for 23rd after shooting a two-over 73. Seniors Josh Baskins and Ryan Mulvany, and junior Nicholas Smits are tied for 39th with a four-over 75.

The second 18-hole round will be played on Saturday at the Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National Resort.
