UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Nevada men’s golf team is in seventh heading into the final round of the Redhawk Invitational, hosted by Seattle University.

Nevada sits at a nine-over 569 after shooting a seven-over 287 in the first round and a two-over 282 in the second round.

Junior Nicholas Smits leads the Pack with a one-over 141 after shooting a 75 in the first round, and a career best 66 in the second round. Senior Josh Baskins is tied for 21st with a two-over 142 after shooting rounds of 70 and 72.

Senior Ryan Mulvany is tied for 31st with a four over 144. Freshman Rhyne Jones shot a one-under 69 in the first round and is tied for 35th. Senior Brian Knoll is tied for 74th.

“Today was an awesome team effort,” said head coach Jacob Wilner. “Everyone came out or finished strong on a very demanding course that takes its toll on you when you walk it.”

The final 18-hole round will be played on Tuesday at Chambers Bay, the site of the 2015 US Open.
