FRESNO, Calif. – Freshman Rhyne Jones and senior Brian Knoll finished tied for third as Nevada finished second on Tuesday at the Fresno State Lexus Classic.

Jones fired a one-over 71, and Knoll shot a two-under 69 in the final round to finish with a five-over 215 for the tournament. Senior Josh Baskins finished tied for 18th with a 10-over 223 for the tournament. Sophomore Kit Carson finished tied for 27th, senior Ryan Mulvany finished tied for 32nd, and Junior Nicholas Smits finished tied for 80th.

This is Jones’ best finish in his collegiate career, and fourth top-20 finish.

Nevada finished second with an 24-over 876. This is Nevada’s best finish of the season.

“It was very exciting out there today,” said head coach Jacob Wilner. “Although we didn’t get the win we did get our 5th top-five finish of the season in only eight events. Jones had another awesome event to add to his impressive freshman season.”

UC Santa Barbra won the tournament with a 21-over 873. UC Santa Barbara’s Jordan Epstein won the individual tournament with a one-over 214.

Nevada will be back in two weeks when they play in The Duck, hosted by Oregon.
