Jones records first top-five finish

LIHUE, Hawaii - Freshman Rhyne Jones recorded his first top five finish of his collegiate career after he finished tied for fourth in the John Burns Invitational.

After inclement weather canceled the final round on Friday, Jones finished the tournament with a four-under 140 for the tournament.

Nevada as a team finished tied for 11th with Colorado State with a 12-over 588 for the tournament, and one stroke out of breaking the top 10.

Ryan Mulvany and Kit Carson finished tied for 48th at 5 over. Nicholas Smits finished tied for 65th and Brian Knoll tied for 89th.

California won the team tournament with a 16-under 560. BYU's Justin Keiley won the individual tournament with a 10-under 134.

Nevada will be back in action on March 10, when it travels to Fresno, Calif. to play in the Fresno Lexus Classic.
