LIHUE, Hawaii – Nevada freshman Rhyne Jones continued his strong play Thursday at the John burns Invitational, shooting a 71 to remain in a tie for fourth place heading into Friday’s final round.
Jones, who opened Wednesday with a 69, is at 4 under 140 with 18 holes to play. He is six shots back of the lead held by Justin Keiley of BYU.
Jones paced Nevada to a team score of 293 on Thursday, two strokes better than the Wolf Pack’s opening round. Nevada is 12 over for the tournament and tied for 11th place. Cal is out in front at 16 under with only three teams under par.
The final round is Friday.
