THE SKINNY
Coming off a loss at Boise State, Nevada enters rivalry week with its sister school from the south coming to Chris Ault Field at Mackay Stadium for the annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon … Nevada has kept the 545-pound beauty at home in Cashell Fieldhouse for the past eight years -- the longest stretch of domination by either team in the history of the series, which dates back to 1969 … Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo has a streak of 187 passes without an interception intact, which is the Mountain West record and the second-longest active streak in the nation (Oregon's Marcus Mariota) … Wide receiver Brandon Wimberly has caught a pass in all 47 games of his career, the longest active streak in the nation … Wimberly has registered double digits in receptions and more than 100 yards in receiving in each of the last three games … This will mark Brian Polian's first ever appearance in the rivalry game while UNLV coach Bobby Hauck makes his fourth appearance … Nevada leads the overall series 23-15 and is 13-6 at Mackay Stadium against the Rebels.
