Nevada has announced seven home games to future schedules
Sept. 29, 2011
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada has added nine games to future football schedules, including a pair of two-game "home-and-home" series with Pacific-12 Conference schools, senior associate athletics director Keith Hackett announced today.
In all, Nevada has reached agreements with six schools on nine games -- seven of them at Mackay Stadium -- beginning in 2012 and running through the 2018 season. As part of the agreements, Nevada will play two games with Washington State -- in Reno in 2014 and in Pullman in 2017 -- and two games with Oregon State -- in Corvallis in 2017 and in Reno in 2018.
Nevada has also scheduled home games with Northwestern State (2012), UC Davis (2013 and 2015), Southern Utah (2014) and Cal Poly (2016).
"We have spent considerable time working to provide competitive schedules for our fan base that bring quality opponents to Mackay Stadium on a regular basis," Hackett said.
In 2012, Nevada will open at Cal on Sept. 1, play Northwestern State on Sept. 15 and at Texas State on Sept. 29th. Hackett said the current focus is to secure another game for the 2012 season, which will be the first for the Wolf Pack in the Mountain West.
"We need to get 2012 done and then we would like to work on a goal in which we always have our schedules completed five years in advance," Hack ett said. "We are also exploring some neutral-site games with some quality opponents in the future."
