Nevada opens a new era at Mackay Stadium with the home debut of first-year coach Brian Polian on Saturday as the Wolf Pack plays host to an old-time foe in UC Davis ... This will be the 53rd overall meeting between the schools but the first since 1989 ... The series dates back nearly a century with the first meeting coming in 1915 ... The game will also mark the dedication of the field at Mackay Stadium as “Chris Ault Field” to honor the winningest coach in school history, who stepped down in December after a 41-year association with the school ... Nevada returns four players who earned All-Mountain West honors a year ago in WR Brandon Wimberly (first team), QB Cody Fajardo (second team), DE Brock Hekking (second team) and OL Joel Bitonio (honorable mention) ... Wimberly has caught a pass in all 40 games of his career – the longest streak in the nation ... This is the second of four non-conference games for Nevada and three to open the year ... Nevada returns 14 starters and 34 letterwinners from the 2012 team that went 7-6 overall.
