RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada football team landed three student-athletes on College Football Performance Award Watch Lists, the CFPA announced recently. Senior quarterback Cody Fajardo, senior defensive end Brock Hekking and sophomore kicker Brent Zuzo were named to the CFPA watch lists at their respective positions.

The preseason awards continue rolling in for Fajardo - back for his fourth season as a starter - after recently being named on the watch list for the 2014 Davey O'Brien Award. Fajardo is one of two quarterbacks from the Mountain West Conference, along with Utah State's Chuckie Keeton, to earn preseason recognition by the CFPA.

The Brea, Calif., native, has thrown for 7,161 yards and 39 touchdowns while rushing for 2,436 yards and 31 TDs in his career at Nevada. Fajardo is one of only two players in the nation who has rushed for at least 30 TDs and passed for at least 30 TDs in his career.

Hekking, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound senior from Vacaville, Calif., is also one of two players from the Mountain West named to the watch list for the CFPA defensive lineman trophy. Hekking has been named to the watch list for the Ted Hendricks Award and the Walter Camp Award.

The two-time All-Mountain West honoree enters his senior season ranking eighth in tackles for loss (24.5) and sixth in sacks (17) on Nevada's career charts. Hekking was the lone member of the Wolf Pack tabbed to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team this season

After hitting 14-of-17 field goals as a true freshman in 2013, Zuzo is one of 40 placekickers to earn the preseason nod by the CFPA. Zuzo, a native of Canton, Mich., made 82.4 percent of his FG attempts last year with a long of 44 yards, while converting 33-of-36 PAT attempts. The Mountain West landed six placekickers on the CFPA watch list.

The complete list of CFPA award winners will be announced Jan. 14, 2015, after the conclusion of the 2014-15 season. The Wolf Pack will kick off its 2014-15 campaign on Saturday, Aug. 30, hosting Southern Utah at Mackay Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon (PT).
