RENO, Nev. – Based on feedback from Wolf Pack fans, the University of Nevada’s kickoff time for its home opener against UC Davis on Sept. 7 has been set for 6:05 p.m., the school announced today.
In the spring, the athletics department conducted an online poll, soliciting feedback from its fan base on the kickoff time for the game and a late afternoon/early evening proved to be the preferred time slot for the home opener.
The game is the 2013 Mackay Stadium opener for the Wolf Pack and the first home game for head coach Brian Polian. Nevada opens the season Aug. 31 at UCLA.
The home opener against the Aggies marks the dedication of the field for Hall of Fame coach Chris Ault, who stepped down in December after 28 seasons on the sidelines and a 41-year association with the school as a student-athlete, coach and athletics director. “Chris Ault Field at Mackay Stadium” will be unveiled at the home opener.
The Nevada-UC Davis game renews an old rivalry as the teams have met 52 times in the series, which began in 1915. Nevada leads the 29-21-3 in the series and this will be the first matchup between the teams since 1989.
