All-America Candidate: Despite never being the “marquee” receiver during his first three years with Nevada, Insley is the all-time leader in yards per catch (17.96) in Nevada history as he enters his senior year. He is within range of the school record for receiving yards. He has caught at least one ball in every game he has played for Nevada (33) and has caught at least three passes in his last 21 games. He has been over 100 yards receiving 16 times in his career. He has a reputation as the surest handed receiver on the field. “Once the ball leaves the quarterback’s hand, I feel it is mine,” he says, and then proves it with routine circus catches. Has started 32 straight, with his only non-start the first game of his true freshman season, and he caught six passes in that game (vs. Oregon), all in the second half. Nevada 1998: First team All-Big West Conference after catching 69 passes for 1,220 yards. He led all receivers in yards per catch (17.7) and touchdowns (11) while playing in the shadow of Geoff Noisy, a team mate who was in the process of breaking the all-time NCAA Division 1 record for career receptions. Caught ten passes for 182 yards and two TD’s in Nevada’s road win against Idaho; caught eight for 162 and three TD’s vs. New Mexico State. Was over 100 yards receiving in seven of the 11 games. Nevada 1997: The Wolf Pack’s most productive receiver with an incredible 19.5 yards per catch average. Named second team All-Big West. He amassed 1,151 yards receiving, second on the team to Noisy’s 1,184, but Insley caught 27 fewer passes. His 104.6 yards per game ranked him ninth nationally. Caught six passes for 217 yards against Boise State, including an 82-yard touchdown on the first play of the game. Recorded over 100 yards receiving in six of his last seven games of his sophomore season. Nevada 1996: In his first game at Nevada he caught six passes for over 100 yards vs. Oregon, all coming in the second half. Named to The Sporting News’ freshman All-America team. Finished third on the team in receptions (36) and yards (574). High School: Lettered in football, baseball, and basketball at San Clemente High School. In seven games his senior year hauled in 66 passes for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Personal: A physical education major. Enjoys racing dirt bikes, snowboarding, surfing, and coaching youth sports. Son of Curt and Sharyn Insley. Born 12/25/77.
