Dave Brown returns to Nevada to fulfill the new Director of Football Operations position in 2011 after spending a previous tenure with the Wolf Pack as a graduate assistant coach and quality control assistant. He will oversee all operational duties at Nevada and will also take over administrative work within the football office in addition to other duties.
Brown returns after one season as run-game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Portland State. While with the Vikings, Brown used his extensive knowledge of Chris Ault's Pistol Offense to incorporate the scheme at Portland State. The Vikings led the Big Sky Conference in rushing in 2010 after implementing the Pistol offense there.
Before his one season at Portland State, Brown worked for four seasons in a number of roles at Nevada and was part of four straight bowl-game appearances with the Wolf Pack. He started in 2006 as a quality control assistant who also oversaw video operations. He then became the Wolf Pack's graduate assistant from 2007-09, assisting with the quarterbacks in the Pistol offense.
Brown spent five seasons at his alma mater, Central Missouri State as the running backs coach. He guided two of the top runners in school history who set 14 school records and earned a pair of All-American honors. The Mules went 43-13 during Brown's tenure, which included a conference title, a national playoff appearance and a bowl victory.
Brown played quarterback in college, and was part of a national championship at Butler Community College in 1999 before moving on to play at Central Missouri State.
A native of the Kansas City area, Brown holds a bachelor's degree (physical education) and master's degree (Sports Business Administration) from Central Missouri State and earned a second master's degree in educational psychology.
