RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach David Carter has announced the signing of Tyron Criswell, Elijah Foster and Robyn Missa to National Letters of Intent to play for the Wolf Pack starting in 2014-15. The three join Eric Cooper, Jr. and Kaileb Rodriguez who signed in November.
Criswell played the past two seasons at Central Community College in Columbus, Neb. The 6-4 shooting guard averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals for the Raiders. The Omaha, Neb. native was named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Year after leading CCC in scoring and shooting 49 percent from the field. He helped the Raiders finish third at the National Tournament and will have two years remaining to play for the Wolf Pack.
“Tyron has the intangibles we feel that are important to win at this level,” Carter said. “He can score, defend and rebound. He's an athletic guard that will provide more depth at our guard position.”
A 6-7, 240-pound forward, Foster played his high school basketball at Rainier High School in Seattle, Wash. and helped the school win its third consecutive 3A state championship. RHS played in the national championship tournament in Madison Square Garden winning its first game and then suffered its only loss to finish 30-1. Foster averaged 9.5 points and 11 rebounds per game as a prep senior.
“Elijah is a great rebounder,” Carter said. “His ability to pursue the ball on both ends is something we are excited about. He has good hands and quick feet for his size. “
The 6-9 Missa played his prep basketball at Long Island (N.Y.) Lutheran High School where he helped the Crusaders to a 21-5 record. The 240-pound forward averaged 8.4 points and close to 10 rebounds per contest. Originally from Germany he played his junior season at Montverde Academy in Florida.
“Robyn is an athletic forward with good skills offensively,” said Carter. “He is a great low post defender and rebounder. He will provide depth for us at the four and five spots.”
Carter also announced that forward Richard Bell will not return next season.
