Story And Elliott Selected To Play In Reach USA Cultural Exchange Trip
RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada men's basketball players Malik Story and Devonte Elliott have been selected to be part of the 2011 Reach USA Cultural Exchange trip to the Far East. The two Wolf Pack players will play nine games in China, May 17-30. The squad will compete against a team from Lithuania seven times and Brazilian team twice.
As a sophomore this past season, Story started all 32 games for the Pack and led the team in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game. The 6-5 guard shot 39.5 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from behind the three-point arc and 73.2 percent at the free throw line. He made a team-high 76 three-pointers and was second averaging two assists per game and ranked third grabbing three rebounds per outing. The Pasadena, Calif. native scored a team season-high 34 points in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in leading Nevada to a 90-80 first round victory over Fresno State.
Elliott played in all 32 games for the Pack as freshman in 2010-11 and earned three starts. The 6-10 forward averaged 1.8 points and shot 36.4 percent from the field. The Los Angeles product grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game to rank fifth on the team. In Nevada's Preseason NIT game at George Washington he finished with a game and season-high 14 rebounds.
