RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's basketball team received key contributions from three newcomers to defeat Oregon Tech 86-75 in an exhibition contest at Lawlor Events Center tonight. The Wolf Pack opens the regular season on Saturday at UC Irvine.
Freshman point guard Marqueze Coleman led the Pack with 15 points, junior college transfer Ali Fall contributed 14 and freshman Cole Huff added eight points all off the bench. Returning starter Jerry Evans, Jr. finished with 13 points with nine coming on three-pointers.
Nevada trailed by five points with 14:13 to play in the first half but held a three-point advantage 41-38 at halftime. With just under four minutes to play the Pack built a 20-point advantage and went on to win by 11.
Oregon Tech had four players score in double figures led by Mihajlo Matic's game-high 19. Alex Zerbach finished with a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Pack shot 48 percent from the field and defensively held the Hustlin' Owls to 38 percent shooting for the game. Nevada was outrebounded 41-40.
