MILAN, Italy - Four University of Nevada men's basketball players scored in double figures as the Wolf Pack defeated the Nelson Soma asd All Stars 86-67 tonight. The game was the first of four the Pack will play in a 10-day tour of Italy.
Pack head coach David Carter announced prior to boarding the team bus for the game that Associate Head Coach Doug Novsek would run the team in tonight's game. Each assistant will get chance to coach the team during the trip as assistant coach Keith Brown will handle the game decisions on Wednesday night and assistant coach Zac Claus one of the final two games of the tour.
Jerry Evans, Jr. and Cole Huff led the way with 15 points each. Huff posted a double-double as he grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Newcomer Lucas Stivrins finished with 12 points and Marqueze Coleman contributed nine. Evans and Coleman totaled nine rebounds each leaving them one short of posting a double-double. Stivrins finished the night with six boards.
Michael Perez had nine points in the game while D.J. Fenner and Deonte Burton had eight each. All nine players scored as Richard Bell scored three points and Patrick Conroy a pair.
Burton finished with a game-high five assists and Bell added four. Coleman and Evans finished with four steals each.
Nevada travels to Lake Como on Wednesday for a boat tour and visits the town of Bellagio. A long day concludes with a 9 p.m. game tomorrow night.
