Stassi, Barnett Named College Baseball Lineup Preseason All-Americans

RENO, Nev.- Nevada pitcher/utility Brock Stassi and outfielder Brian Barnett have earned second-team and third-team All-America honors from College Baseball Lineup. Stassi, the 2010 WAC Pitcher of the Year, earned second-team honors as a utility player and is entering his fourth season at Nevada. The third-team selection is the second preseason All-America honor for Barnett this year, as he was also named a second-team All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association.

In addition to becoming only the second Nevada pitcher to be named WAC Pitcher of the Year, Stassi earned second-team All-WAC utility honors after setting career highs in every offensive category in 2010. Stassi hit .364 with 16 doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBI last season and was named WAC Hitter of the Week twice. Stassi struck out 67 batters and threw three complete games en route to a team-leading 7 wins and a team-low3.43 ERA.

Barnett was a second-team All-WAC selection in 2010 hitting .348 and leading the Wolf Pack with 18 home runs, 78 hits, 71 RBI and a .701 slugging percentage. In his first season at Nevada, Barnett made his mark on Nevada's single season record book. His 18 home runs tie him with Ben Mummy (2005) and Shawn Scobee (2005) for fourth most in a season, 71 RBI are sixth most and his .701 slugging percentage is seventh best.
