Blue Takes Series 3-2
Silver Wins Game Five 10-1 To Force Resumption Of Suspended Game
Reno, Nev. - The silver squad won game four of the University of Nevada's baseball series 10-1 which forced Monday's game two that was suspended after nine innings tied 2-2 to be resumed. The blue squad scored six runs in the top of the 10th to win the suspended game and take the series 3-2 which concludes fall team practice.
In today's regularly scheduled game pitchers Jesse Rasner and Beau Witsoe allowed a combined six hits and shortstop Kullen Mahoney hit a grand slam as part of a five-run third inning to propel the silver team to victory.
Offensively Mahoney led the silver team with three hits and Brian Barnett had two doubles and drove in four. The blue team was led by outfielders Waylen Sing Chow, Westley Moss and Ronnie Mitchell who totaled two hits apiece.
In the resumption of Monday's game two the blue squad scored six times in the top of the 10th to win 8-2. Moss led off with a bunt single and moved to second base on shortstop Garrett Yrigoyan's sacrifice bunt. First baseman Shaun Kort's fly ball dropped for a single and a walk to Mitchell loaded the bases for Sing Chow. Sing Chow's double scored all three runners and the silver added three more runs to put the game away.
Jared Harvey took the loss for the silver squad while Tom Jamison recorded the final three outs in the 10th to preserve the win.
