Silver Team Takes Series With 5-0 Victory In Game Five

RENO, Nev. - The silver team won game five of the University of Nevada's Silver and Blue Series 5-0 at Peccole Park this morning to take the series 3-2.  Today's game ends fall practice for the Wolf Pack.

The silver team struck for three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take control of the game.  Hugo Hernandez doubled and Carlos Escobar walked to get the big inning started.  With two out Matt Rutledge single home the first run of the game.  Ray McIntire's double scored two runs and it was 3-0.

In the bottom of the third inning Joe Kohan singled and moved to third base on Brock Stassi's single.  Brian Barnett scored Kohan with his RBI single and the silver team was on top 4-0. 

The silver team scored its fifth and final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Stassi doubled and scored on Hernandez' RBI single.

Elliott Van Gaver earned the victory pitching two shutout innings as five silver pitchers combined on the shutout.  Waylen Sing Chow was tagged with the loss allowing three runs on three hits in two innings on the mound. 

Hernandez (2-for-2,RBI), Kohan (2-for-4,R) and Stassi (2-for-4,R) each had two hits in the game to lead the silver team offensively.  McIntire (1-for-3,2RBI) finished with two RBI while Barnett (1-for-3,RBI), Hernandez, and Rutledge (1-for-3,RBI) each drove in a run.

Curtis Frisbie (1-for-3), Nick Melino (1-for-3) and Cody Collins (1-for-3) had a hit apiece for the blue squad.
