Silver Takes Game Four 10-5 To Even Series
RENO, Nev. - The silver team won game four of the University of Nevada's Silver and Blue Series 10-5 to even the series at two games each. The deciding fifth game will take place on Friday morning at Peccole Park with first pitch slated for 9:00 a.m. The game is free and open to the public.
The silver team scored the first 10 runs of the game then held off a late rally by the blue team to even the series. Hugo Hernandez drove in Brian Barnett with the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning and he later scored on Ray McIntire's sacrifice fly and it was 2-0.
A five-run top of the fifth inning made it 7-0. Barnett, Hernandez and Carlos Escobar had RBI hits in the big inning. One of the runs scored on an error and the other crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Joe Kohan singled home Jameson Rowe with the white squads first run in the top of the sixth inning. Barnett doubled home Kohan and Hernandez' single scored him with the white team's 10th run of the game.
Michael Turay's single in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Waylen Sing Chow with the blue squad's first run of the day. Cody Collins singled home two more runs, the fourth run came home on an error and a bases loaded walk to Turay made the final score 10-5.
Mark Joukoff earned the win pitching four shutout innings, allowing two hits and struck out four in his four innings on the mound. Braden Shipley was tagged with the loss giving up two runs on three hits in his four innings of action.
Barnett (3-for-3, 2RBI) was perfect at the plate with three hits that include a double, triple and he drove in two. Hernandez (3-for-4, RBI) also had three hits and plated one run in the game. Rowe (1-for-2) scored two runs and stole four bases in the win.
Anthony Rosa (2-for-4) and Turay (2-for-2,RBI) led the blue team with two hits each. Collins (1-for-3) drove in two runs with his single in the bottom of the sixth inning.
