Reno, Nev. - Chris Garcia and Mat Keplinger combined on a seven-inning no-hitter as the blue team blanked the silver squad 5-0 in game four of the silver and blue series being played at Peccole Park this week that will conclude fall practice. With the victory the blue team holds a 2-1-1 series advantage with game five and a possible conclusion of game two set for Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. Game two was tied 2-2 after nine innings on Monday and will only be completed if necessary to determine the series winner. The series is free and open to the public.
Garcia tossed five shutout innings, walked one batter after the count had gone to 3-2 and struck out three to earn the win for the blue squad. Keplinger came out of the bullpen and tossed two perfect innings to seal the victory. Silver starter Brock Stassi allowed two runs in four innings on the mound and was tagged with the loss.
In the top of the second inning shortstop Garrett Yrigoyan got the scoring started with a two RBI single to put the blue in front to stay 2-0. With the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning Yrigoyan's ground out scored the third run of the game. First baseman Shaun Kort followed with a two-RBI double to make it 5-0 which was the final score.
Yrigoyan went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in three runs while Kort scored a pair of runs with his only hit of the game. Center fielder Westley Moss collected two singles and scored a run for the blue squad.
Jesse Rasner is scheduled to start game five for the silver team and Jayson McClaren will pitch for the blue squad.
