RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada junior pitcher Adam Whitt received the Russell Ford Award that recognizes the Cape Cod Baseball League reliever of the year. Earlier this summer Whitt was selected to play in the Cape Code League All-Star game and pitched a scoreless inning of relief as his West squad won 5-0.
Whitt is a reliever for the Cotuit (Mass.) Kettleers this summer where he is 5-0 with four saves in 19 appearances. His 1.00 ERA tops the league and five wins is tied for second. In 36 innings on the mound he has 34 strikeouts and walked just 12. The Kettleers are currently competing in the playoffs.
The Carson City, Nev. native led the Wolf Pack with seven saves last season and posted a 5-5 record in 30 appearances. The five wins and 30 appearances were second on the team as was his 54 strikeouts.
