Track & Field led the way with 22 selections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced its record-setting spring 2014 academic all-conference honorees Monday afternoon with 80 Nevada student-athletes receiving the honor.
The league-record of 897 student-athletes from around the conference surpasses the previous record of 783 spring semester honorees, set during the 2010-11 academic year. Spring sports include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average, at the member institution, of 3.0 or higher, completed at least one academic semester at the member institution and competed in 50 percent of the team’s varsity contests.
The Wolf Pack track & field team led the way, placing 22 student-athletes on the list. Swimming & diving followed closely behind with 17 honorees. The women’s basketball team saw nine of its student-athletes honored, while baseball placed eight on the list. Softball, women’s tennis and women’s golf each had six representatives, men’s tennis had four selections and men’s golf rounded out the teams with two honorees.
