Kort Named To Rivals.com Freshman All-America Squad





Reno, Nev. - University of Nevada freshman first baseman Shaun Kort has been named to a third freshmen All-America Baseball team, being selected to the Rivals.com squad.  Kort was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-America Baseball Team and the Pingbaseball.com Second-Team Freshmen All-America squad prior to his latest honor.  A product of Woodland Hills, Calif., he was named Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and won the conference batting title with a .392 average in his first season. 

In addition to leading the Wolf Pack in hitting he topped the team offensively in slugging percentage(.586), on base percentage(.461), runs scored(44), hits(87), runs batted in(50), doubles(17), triples(4), total bases(130), at bats(222), total plate appearances(257), and walks(28). 

Kort’s 87 hits and .461 on base percentage was third in the WAC while he also ranked sixth in slugging percentage(.586), tied for ninth with 50 RBI, tied for seventh with 17 doubles, tied for sixth with four triples, and was seventh with 130 total bases.
