RENO, Nev. - Three days of special promotions are planned for the final weekend of baseball at Peccole Park when Mountain West co-leader New Mexico comes to Reno for a three-game series. Friday and Saturday's games start at 6 p.m. with Sunday's game being a 1 p.m. first pitch.
Friday the University of Nevada athletics department will honor former longtime Wolf Pack head coach Gary Powers with the retiring of his number 17 jersey. A special promotion for the game is 17 tickets for just $17. To purchase tickets go to NevadaWolfPack.com and click on the buy tickets tab at the top of the page. Use promo code POWERS17 to get your tickets. Tickets must be purchased by 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The first 300 fans attending Friday's game will receive a commemorative Gary Powers trading card in honor of the retiring of number 17. Get to Peccole Park early for a meet and greet to congratulate coach Powers starting at 5 p.m. Cookies and lemonade will be provided.
Baseball alumni will be admitted free to Friday's game but need to contact Judi Cail at 682-6901 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline to contact Judi is 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Saturday fans will be admitted free if they are shorter than first-year head coach Jay Johnson. A life size cutout of the 5-7 coach will be at the main gate and if Jay is taller than you come on through the gate. The concession stand will also be selling $1 hot dogs.
The final game of the series is Senior Day as six Wolf Pack players will be recognized prior to first pitch for their contributions to Nevada baseball. Scott Kaplan, Brad Gerig, Bryce Barger, Ryan Baker, Michael Bradshaw and Joe Setum will be honored on Sunday.
