Pack And Aces Play Silver City Classic Before 3631 Fans

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada and Reno Aces Baseball Club played the Silver City Classic, an exhibition game at Aces Ballpark on Tuesday night before 3631 fans. The Aces are the Triple A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  When the game ended after eight innings the Aces had won by a score of 11-1.  The contest was played using spring training rules as Aces pitchers were used by both teams and lasted eight innings.

A fundraiser for the Nevada Dugout Club, the Aces presented a check for $15,000 to the University in the bottom of the fourth inning.  The funds will directly benefit the Wolf Pack baseball program.

Nevada's lone run came in the sixth inning when left fielder Waylen Sing Chow tripled down the right field line with two down and freshman second baseman Cullen Mahoney followed with an RBI single.

The Pack played 12 position players which included Sam Bias a member of the Nevada softball team.  Bias saw two innings of action defensively in left field.

Third baseman Garrett Yrigoyen collected the first Nevada hit of the game in the third inning with an infield single.  Center fielder Westley Moss reached on a bunt single in the fourth inning as the Pack totaled four hits on the night.

Nevada, 15-11, opens Western Athletic Conference play this weekend with a four-game series versus New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. beginning Friday night at 5:05 p.m. Pacific.
