Nevada Falls 16-2 In Final At Oregon
EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon (13-6) baseball team scored 12 runs in the first three innings of the game and went on to defeat the University of Nevada (10-7) 16-2 in the first game of a four-game series at PK Park. The win was the 13th of the season for the Ducks as they improved to 13-6 on the season while the Wolf Pack dropped 10-7.
The Ducks scored two in the first inning, four in the second and six in the third inning to take control of the game from the start. Center fielder Westley Moss scored the first run of the game for Nevada, after he walked and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning. The Pack's second run came in the seventh inning when first baseman Shaun Kort singled and scored on third baseman Garrett Yrigoyen's double to right center field gap.
Oregon tallied three more runs in the seventh inning on infielder Jack Marder's, three-run homer and added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the final score 16-2
Pack starter Tyler Graham (1-3) suffered his third loss of the season allowing nine runs, eight earned in 2.1 innings on the mound. Tyler Anderson (4-1) won his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits.
Kort (2-for-3,R) led the Pack with a pair of hits in the game and Yrigoyen had the only RBI.
Marder (3-for-5,R,8RBI) was the hitting star for the Ducks with three hits and eight RBI. Shortstop KC Serna (3-for-6,3R) also had three and scored three runs in the game.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game starting at noon.
