March 1, 2012
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada baseball team will travel to take on rival UNLV in a three-game series from Friday-Sunday this week, followed by one game against San Francisco State on Tuesday at Peccole Park.
First pitch Friday will be at 6:05 p.m. at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas. The Wolf Pack is 5-3 (0-0 WAC), while UNLV comes into the action at 5-4 (0-0 MWC). SFSU is 5-7 (4-4 CCAA).
Nevada dropped an 8-4 contest at Santa Clara its last time out, after going 4-1 in the five previous games. Bradey Shipley will take the ball Friday, looking to get the Pack back in the win column. He has been Nevada's best starting pitcher through the first eight games of 2012, posting a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA. Shipley is yet to allow a run of any kind and has whiffed a team-high 16 hitters. The remainder of Nevada's rotation is scheduled to remain the same for the weekend, with Tyler Wells taking the ball Saturday and Tom Jameson taking the mound on Sunday.
UNLV leads the all-time series with Nevada 58-44. The Rebels defeated Cal State Bakersfield 15-6 in their last game.
Don Marchand will have the call on ESPN Radio 1450 AM in northern Nevada and at www.NevadaWolfPack.tv.
