SATURDAY NIGHT MEN’S BASKETBALL TICKET STUB GETS YOU INTO SUNDAY’S BASEBALL GAME FREE:  Wolf Pack fans attending Saturday night’s New Mexico State at Nevada men’s basketball game can bring their ticket stub to Sunday’s UNLV at Nevada baseball game and be admitted free. 

NEVADA ON RADIO:  All three games of the UNLV series can be heard on ESPN Radio 630AM but Tuesday’s game at UC Davis will not be carried.  Dan Gustin and Don Marchand are the primary members of the Wolf Pack broadcast team again this season.  Pregame is set to get underway 15 minutes prior to first pitch.

The Series vs. UNLV:  UNLV leads the series with the Wolf Pack 54-40.  The Pack have won the last five meetings including both games played in Reno last season with the third game being cancelled due to weather.  In 2005 the Pack swept the three-game series in Las Vegas.

SCHEDULE CHANGES:  Due to weather problems this past week two changes have been made the Wolf Pack baseball schedule.  Nevada will now play at San Francisco on April 17 in a game that was originally scheduled for Reno.  The Dons will come to Peccole Park on March 27.  Both games start at 2:00 p.m.

TEAM:  The Pack have won two in a row after dropping the previous three...The Wolf Pack have won two games in a row three times this season to account for their six wins...Nevada is second in the Western Athletic Conference in fielding percentage(.972), fourth in hitting(.290), and  fifth in ERA(5.58)...The Pack’s 13 runs vs. Buffalo(2/23) is a season high...Nevada went 4-8 in 12 road games to start the season...The Pack dropped its home opener to St. Mary’s on Tuesday 13-4, it marked the second time in three seasons the Gaels knocked off the Pack in the home opener...The Wolf Pack’s 10-6 win in the final game at Cal Poly snapped a season-high 5-game losing skid...Head coach Gary Powers is in his 25th season of directing the Wolf Pack baseball program in 2007...Powers, the longest tenured coach in the history of Nevada athletics, coached his 1,300th game versus St. Mary’s College on Jan. 26...Peccole Park will be the site of the 2007 WAC Tournament May 24-27...Nevada was picked to finish fourth in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll behind Fresno State, Hawai`i, and Louisiana Tech.

AT THE PLATE: C-Konrad Schmidt hit .545(12-for-22) with 6 runs scored, 4 doubles, 5 home runs, and 17 RBI during a 5-game hit streak that was snapped vs. St. Mary’s(2/20)...Schmidt hit 2 home runs in each of the last two Sunday games the Pack has played and has hit .778(7-for-9) with 5 runs scored, 3 doubles, 4 home runs, and 12 RBI in those two Sunday games combined...Schmidt leads with WAC with 6 home runs, an .816 slugging percentage and ranks in the top 10 in four other offensive categories...IF/P Shaun Kort hit a home run in his first collegiate at bat, the 3-run shot came as a pinch hitter at SMC(1/27)...Kort was named the Freshman of the Week by Rivals.com for his play at SMC...Kort is fourth in the WAC with a .404 average and Schmidt ranks fifth with his .367 batting average...IF-Jason Rodriguez has started the last 3 games at third base after returning to the team following the death of his father in a car crash on Feb. 9...Junior designated hitter Terry Walsh was named to the 2007 WAC Coaches’ Preseason team...Walsh is hitting .583(7-for-12) with 4 runs scored, 2 doubles, a home run, and 4 RBI during a current seasonhigh 4-game hit streak...Five players have hit home runs IF/OF-Matt Bowman, Walsh, Kort, Schmidt, and IF-Owen Mackedon...Bowman and Schmidt have each hit two home runs in a game this season, Schmidt has done it twice...Second baseman David Ciarlo hit .333(12-for-36) with 8 runs scored, 4-doubles, a triple, and 5RBI during a career high and team season high 9-game hit streak that was snapped on Saturday vs. Buffalo...Infielders Chris Siewert put together the second longest hit streak on the team this season of eight games...Ciarlo is the only player to start and play in every game and all have come at second base...OF-Jason Sadoian, Schmidt, and Kort have collected four hits in a game this season which is the high for a Pack player...Sadoian’s is batting .407(11-for-27) with 7 runs scored, 5 doubles, and 2RBI during a current career high 7-game hit streak which is the longest active streak on the team...1B-Dan Eastham scored a career high three runs and equaled his career high with three hits in the final game at Cal Poly...Jacob Kaup, Mackedon, and Cody Fierro all collected their first hits in a Nevada uniform in the Cal Poly series...Three players Kort, Kaup, and Eastham have pulled double duty as pitchers and position players...19 position players have been used in 15 games played this season...Bowman a 2007 Wallace Award Watch List selection will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his right pectorial muscle at UC Riverside(2/2) which required surgery to repair.

ON THE MOUND:  Senior pitcher Ryan Rodriguez, a 2007 preseason WAC selection, made his 54th consecutive start since coming to campus vs. Buffalo last weekend and has recorded a strikeout in all 54...In his last three starts Rodriguez has posted a 1.71 ERA with 23 strikeouts and walked just 7 in 21 innings pitched to post a 2-1 record...Rodriguez is tied with Mateo Miramontes(2001-03) for second with 25 career victories and 259 career strikeouts, while he is alone in second with 311.2 career innings pitched...Twice Rodriguez has struckout 9 batters in a game this season at Cal Poly and at Pacific...Rodriguez retired the first 16 batters he faced at Cal Poly...Rodriguez leads the WAC with 32.1 innings pitched and is second with 34 strikeouts...Nevada used the same rotation the first four weekends of the season Rodriguez, Rod Scurry, and Mario Rivera but that changed last week as Kyle Howe started Saturday and Scurry was scheduled to pitch on Sunday before the game was cancelled due to snow...LHP-Jacob Kaup pitched 5 shutout innings of relief vs. Buffalo(2/24) to earn his first victory in the Silver & Blue...Kaup has not allowed a run in 12 innings pitched appearing in 5 games...Rivera won two of his four starts this season...Reliever Kody Keroher has struck out 10 in 11 innings of which seven have been looking...Keroher allowed one unearned run in four innings in the final game at Cal Poly to earn his first save at Nevada and it is the team’s only save this year...Keroher has one of everything this season, a win at St. Mary’s, a save at Cal Poly, and a loss at Pacific...Nevada’s bullpen has allowed 15-of-34(44%) inherited runners to score...13 pitchers have taken to the mound this season...Eight of Scurry’s 11 strikeouts have been looking which is tied for third in the WAC.
