NEVADA ON RADIO:  Two of Nevada’s three games at Pacific and Tuesday’s game with St. Mary’s will be carried live on on ESPN Radio 630AM.  Friday and Sunday’s games will air but Saturday’s game will not be on radio as the Wolf Pack men’s basketball game with Northern Iowa will be broadcast in that time slot.  Dan Gustin and Don Marchand are the primary members of the Wolf Pack broadcast team again this season.  Pregame is set to get underway 15 minutes prior to first pitch.

BOWMAN TO MISS REMAINDER OF 2007 BASEBALL SEASON:  Junior outfielder/infielder Matt Bowman will miss the remainder of the 2007 baseball season after tearing his right pectoral muscle while sliding into second base in the Pack’s 12-8 loss at UC Riverside on Feb. 2.  Bowman, from Dayton, Nev., has not played since the injury and a second MRI taken on Tuesday revealed the tear.  He is expected to miss  three to six months and could possibly undergo surgery.
 
He began the 2007 season as the Pack’s top returning hitter after leading the team with a .376 avg., 17 doubles and 82 hits last year.  He was named to the 2007 Wallace Award watch list which honors the collegiate player of the year. 

Bowman started in the Pack’s first five games this year batting .358 with seven hits and two home runs in his first 19 at-bats. 

TEAM:  Nevada is second in the Western Athletic Conference in fielding percentage(.965), fifth in ERA(6.12), and tied for sixth in hitting(.272)...The Pack’s three-game series at Pacific this weekend concludes a 12-game stretch of road games to open the season...Nevada will play its home opener Tuesday at 2 p.m. versus St. Mary’s...The Wolf Pack’s 10-6 win in the final game at Cal Poly snapped a 5-game losing skid...Head coach Gary Powers is in his 25th season of directing the Wolf Pack baseball program in 2007...Powers, the longest tenured coach in the history of Nevada athletics, coached his 1,300th game versus St. Mary’s College on Jan. 26...Peccole Park will be the site of the 2007 WAC Tournament May 24-27...Nevada was picked to finish fourth in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll behind Fresno State, Hawai`i, and Louisiana Tech.

AT THE PLATE: C-Konrad Schmidt went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 three-run homers, and drove in 7 in the final game at Cal Poly...IF/P Shaun Kort hit a home run in his first collegiate at bat, the 3-run shot came as a pinch hitter at SMC(1/27)...Kort was named the Freshman of the Week by Rivals.com for his play at SMC...Junior designated hitter Terry Walsh was named to the 2007 WAC Coaches’ Preseason team...Four players have hit home runs IF/OF-Matt Bowman, Walsh, Kort, and Schmidt...Bowman and Schmidt have each hit two home runs in a game this season...Schmidt is tied for the lead in the WAC with three home runs and three times being hit by a pitch...IF-Chris Siewert has hit in all eight games he has played in this season which is the longest active hit streak on the team..2B-David Ciarlo is the only player to start every game and all have come at second base...OF-Jason Sadoian and Schmidt both had four hits in the final game at Cal Poly which is the high by a player this season...1B-Dan Eastham scored a career high three runs and equaled his career high with three hits in the final game at Cal Poly last weekend...Jacob Kaup, Owen Mackedon, and Cody Fierro all collected their first hits in a Nevada uniform in the Cal Poly series last weekend...Three players Kort, Kaup, and Eastham have pulled double duty as pitchers and position players...19 position players have been used in nine games played this season.

ON THE MOUND:  Senior pitcher Ryan Rodriguez retired the first 16 batters he faced in the game 1 at Cal Poly and struckout a season high 9...Rodriguez tops the WAC with 20 strikeouts and 18.1 innings pitched...Rodriguez has made 52 consecutive starts since coming to campus and has recorded a strikeout in all 52...Rodriguez ranks fourth with 23 career wins, and third with 297.2 innings pitched, and 245 strikeouts at Nevada...The Pack rotation of Rodriguez, Rod Scurry, and Mario Rivera all pitched 5+ innings the opening weekend but only Rodriguez(6.1IP & 7IP) duplicated the feat each of last two weekends...Rivera has won two of his three starts this season...Reliever Kody Keroher has struck out nine in 8.2 innings of which six have been looking...Keroher allowed one unearned run in four innings in the final game at Cal Poly to earn his first save at Nevada and it is the team’s only save this year...With a win and a save Keroher has been instrumental in two of the Pack’s three victories and Rivera has won two of the team’s three games ... Nevada’s bullpen has allowed 13-of-27(48%) inherited runners to score...13 pitchers have taken to the mound this season...Six of Scurry’s seven strikeouts have been looking...Scurry and Keroher’s six strikeouts looking is tied for first in the conference...Reliever Ben Colton’s four appearances and four relief appearances is tied for first in the WAC..
