San Luis Obispo, Calif. After rained on Saturday forced the postponement of the second game of the Nevada(2-6) at Cal Poly(5-5) baseball series being played at Baggett Stadium in San Luis Obispo, Calif. the two teams were able to get in the game starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. Unfortunately for the Wolf Pack they dropped their fifth decision in a row falling 15-2 to the Mustangs.
The Pack is now 2-6 heading into game two of today’s doubleheader while CP, winners of five in a row, improved to 5-5 on the season. Cal Poly scored a run in each of their first six at bats on the way to the convincing 15-2 victory. All nine starters in the Mustang lineup collected a hit in the game.
Nevada got an RBI single from catcher Baker Krukow in the first inning to go on top 1-0 and first baseman Shaun Kort drove in a run in the top of the fifth inning to account for the two Pack runs.
Pack starter Rod Scurry(0-2) took the loss for allowing seven runs on six hits in 2.2 innings on the mound. Thomas Eager(2-1) picked up the win after giving up two runs, one earned in 6.1 innings of action.
Kort(2-for-2,R,RBI) led the Pack offensively with two hits, a run scored, and an RBI.
Pat Bezet(3-for-4,3R,2RBI), Brent Morel(3-for-5,3R,3RBI), and Wes Dorrell(3-for-4,2R,RBI) had three hits each to lead the Mustangs. Right fielder Grant Desme(2-for-4,2R,5RBI) had five RBI in the game, four coming on a grand slam in the fifth inning.
The final game of the series is slated for 30 minutes following Sunday’s first contest at Baggett Stadium.
