FRESNO, Calif.  -   The University of Nevada baseball team lost 7-3 to New Mexico on day two of the Mountain West Championship at Pete Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif. Thursday night.  The Wolf Pack falls into the losers bracket and will play Fresno State in an elimination game on Friday morning at 11 a.m.  The Pack defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 in 12 innings on Wednesday.

A win over FS on Friday would send the Pack into second elimination game at 3 p.m. versus San Diego State.  Nevada dropped to 25-31 with tonight's loss while UNM improved to 36-18.

For the second consecutive night the Pack go a home run from designated hitter Hugo Hernandez in the top of the first inning to take an early lead.  Wednesday it was a three-run shot against Fresno State and tonight it was a two-run homer versus the Lobos.

Wednesday FS scored three in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game that went 12 innings.  Tonight the Lobos scored two runs to tie the score at two.

UNM broke the tie in the second with a two-run homer and got a second two-run shot  in the third to take a 6-2 lead.  Nevada scored a run on an RBI single from Brad Gerig in the top of the sixth to close within three a 6-3.  UNM's DJ Peterson hit the Lobos third home run of the game to make the final score 7-3.

Pack starter Tyler Wells (4-6) suffered the loss allowing six runs on six hits in 2.2 innings on the mound.  Barry Timko pitched 4.1 innings of relief and gave up just the one run on the Peterson homer.

Josh Walker (11-0) won his 11th game of the season allowing three runs on seven hits in 8.2 innings of action.  Gabe Aguilar (3) earned the save retiring the final hitter of the game with two runners on base.

Brooks Klein (3-for-4,2R) led Nevada with three hits and scored two runs.  Gerig (2-for-3,RBI) added two hits and drove in one.  Hernandez drove in two with his fifth home run of the season.

Luke Campbell (2-for-4,R,2RBI) and Alex Allbritton (2-for-3,R) had two hits for the Lobos.  Peterson, Haggerty and Campbell hit home runs for UNM.
