FRESNO, Calif. - The University of Nevada baseball team lost its season-high sixth in a row falling 10-4 at Fresno State on Friday night. The Wolf Pack has dropped both games of the Mountain West series after falling 2-1 in 10 innings on Thursday evening.
The Pack is 24-29 overall and 11-18 in MW play while the Bulldogs improved to 20-31 and 13-16 in the conference. With the loss Nevada will be seeded fifth in next week's MW Tournament and play FS on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Pete Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif.
FS got a two-run homer from center fielder Aaron Judge in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed in the game. Nevada got and RBI single from third baseman Hugo Hernandez in the top of the third to close within a run at 2-1.
The Bulldogs scored six times in the bottom of the third and were aided by two Pack errors that led to four unearned runs in the inning. Judge hit his second home run of the game in the fourth and it was 9-1 FS.
Hernandez drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. The Pack scored twice in the sixth inning to make the final scored 10-4.
Tyler Wells (4-5) suffered the loss allowing nine runs, five earned in four innings on the mound. Reliever Mark Reece allowed just one run on three hits in his four innings.
William Munro (2-4) earned the win giving up three runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings on the mound. Garrett Mundell (2) recorded his second save pitching 3.2 shutout innings.
First baseman Kewby Meyer had a career-high five hits going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Catcher Ryan Teel (2-for-4,R) and left fielder Lance Berringer (2-for-4) had two hits each for the Pack.
Judge (3-for-4,3R,4RBI) led FS with three hits and four RBI. Chris Mariscal (2-for-4,2R,RBI) added two hits.
The final game of the series is set for Saturday night at 6:35 p.m.
