Wolf Pack Falls 4-2 In Series Opener





Reno, Nev. - The University of Nevada baseball team (17-27, 6-10 WAC) dropped game one of this weekend's series versus the Sacramento State Hornets (18-33, 5-12 WAC) 4-2 tonight.

RHP Troy Marks (2-4, 3.90 ERA) struck out four hitters and tossed his second consecutive complete game, but suffered the loss allowing four runs on ten hits and two walks in nine innings of work.

Sacramento State did all of its damage off Marks in the top of the second, scoring four runs on three singles, one double and one walk.

Nevada was held to five hits by RHP Karl Maas (4-4, 4.44 ERA) who also pitched a complete game.

Garrett Yrigoyen (2-for-4, RBI) accounted for two of Nevada's five hits, singling in the fourth and adding an RBI single that scored Brian Barnett (1-for-4, R) in the sixth.

Waylen Sing Chow (1-for-3, BB, R), Barnett and Braden Shipley (1-for-3) also had one hit each in the contest.

LHP Brock Stassi (1-2, 7.43 ERA) will take the mound in game one of tomorrow's doubleheader and Tom Jameson (3-6, 5.89 ERA) will toe the rubber in game two.
