RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada (25-20) baseball team scored twice in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat UC Davis (19-25) 6-5 on Tuesday evening at Peccole Park. With the victory the Wolf Pack equaled last season's win total improving to 25-20. The Aggies dropped to 19-25.
UCD scored the go ahead run in the top of the 10th to break a 4-4 tie. Third baseman Adam Young was hit by pitch to start the inning and center fielder Kevin Barker walked. After a strike out first baseman Nick Lynch was hit by pitch to load the bases. A ground out off the bat of left fielder Austin March put the Aggies on top 5-4 heading to the bottom of the inning.
Pack reserve outfielder TJ Friedl got the rally started in the bottom of the 10th with a double to right field. Left fielder Kewby Meyer's fifth hit of the game put runners on the corners for first baseman Austin Byler. Byler delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game at five. An error and a single loaded the bases as Meyer advanced to third base. With Jordan Dunatov at the plate UCD closer Zach Stone uncorked a wild pitch and Meyer scored the winning run to give the Pack a 6-5 victory.
The Aggies scored twice in the top of the second inning on three hits including a pair of doubles to take an early 2-0 advantage. Meyer doubled with two down in the third and scored on Byler's single and Nevada trailed 2-1.
Byler and catcher Jordan Devencenzi each hit solo home runs in the fifth to put the Pack on top 3-2. A pair of unearned runs in the top of the eighth inning and UCD had regained the lead 4-3. Nevada scored an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth on Byler's RBI single to knot the score at four and setup exciting 10th inning.
Trenton Brooks (1-1) earned his first college win pitching 2/3rds of an inning. Brooks started the game in right field and made two appearances on the mound in the 10th inning. Brooks retired a batter then returned to right field and after a walk by reliever Jordan Dunatov went back to the mound to get the final out of the inning.
Stone (3-4) was tagged with the loss allowing two runs, one earned on three hits in the 10th inning.
Meyer (5-for-6,2R) tied his career-high with five hits and scored two runs. Two doubles in the game gives Meyer 23 on the season which is tied with Glen Carson (1998) for the fourth best season in school history. His 43 career doubles is one short of tying Matt Ortiz (1998-00) for 10th on Nevada's career list.
Byler (4-for-5,R,4RBI) also tied his career-high with four hits and drove in four. Byler hit his season career-high 11th home run and after the game has 101 career RBIs.
Tino Lipson (3-for-4,R) led UCD with three hits while Lynch (2-for-2,2RBI) and March (2-for-5,R,RBI) added two each.

Notes: Junior Colby Blueberg made his 29th appearance of the season in the game which is a new school record.
Junior Kewby Meyer has 23 doubles on the season which is tied with Glen Carson (1998) for the fourth best season in school history.
After driving in four runs tonight junior Austin Byler has 101 career RBI.
